Innovation does not always begin with high technology or billion-dollar corporations. The message from the talk show “Building the Nation – Proudly Vietnam” highlights that even the simplest ideas can become powerful drivers of growth when nurtured within a true innovation ecosystem.
At a recent discussion, Mr. Vũ Quốc Huy, Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC), emphasized that one of the Center’s key missions is to attract global technology leaders such as Meta, Google, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm to Vietnam. Positioned under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, NIC plays a pivotal role in fostering an environment where both domestic and international enterprises can thrive and contribute to the country’s innovation-driven growth.
According to Mr. Huy, NIC has identified nine strategic sectors that will shape Vietnam’s innovation agenda: smart manufacturing, smart cities, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), digital content, cybersecurity, health technology, environmental technology, and green hydrogen. Among these, three are considered top priorities — semiconductors, AI, and green hydrogen — reflecting both global trends and Vietnam’s ambition to move higher up the technology value chain.

By focusing on these strategic sectors, NIC seeks not only to boost the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises but also to create an ecosystem that is attractive to global tech corporations. The presence of major players like NVIDIA and Qualcomm in Vietnam would strengthen the country’s semiconductor ambitions, while partnerships with Meta and Google could accelerate advances in AI, digital content, and smart city development.
As part of its efforts to connect Vietnam with the global innovation network, NIC is preparing to host the Vietnam Innovation Exhibition 2025, which will take place from October 1 to 10 in Hòa Lạc. This large-scale event will bring together businesses, startups, researchers, and investors to showcase Vietnam’s technological capabilities and open new avenues for international cooperation.
With its mandate to bridge Vietnam and the world’s leading innovators, NIC aims to position the country as a rising hub for high-tech investment and sustainable innovation in the Asia-Pacific region. The ambition is clear: to transform Vietnam into not only a fast-growing digital economy but also a trusted partner for the world’s most influential technology companies.
